Resistanz - International Industrial Music Festival 2012

Resistanz, the International Industrial/Electro Festival based in Sheffields legendary Corporation venue has begun to announce acts for their 2012 bill, and, in one fell swoop have trumped last years impressive line up. Industrial supergroup Icon Of Coil will be performing a one off UK date as headliners of April 2012′s Resistanz event.
The band, featuring Sebastian Komor and Andy Leplegua are international scene favourites, reknowned for their work in their other projects, and have in the past reformed for a number of dates, largely stateside or as part of Canadas Kinetik festival. This booking is undoubtedly a coup for Resistanz, where few could compete with such an exclusive and well loved act. Not to mention an exceedingly rare oportunity to see such an influential act on UK soil. Indeed, this performance will be their first appearance on Sheffield’s Corporation stage in 8 years. Co-headlining are German club thumpers Straftanz. The industrial band renowned for their uncompromisingly heavy stomp-along songs have often described themselves as “Industrial-Streetfighting-Dance” which in practice is a mix of EBM, futurepop, trance

and rhythmic noise. Their addition to the Resistanz bill has been an unexpected but well received announcement via the events official facebook page, rapid expansion of which is prompting more and more early announcements. Frozen Plasma are confirmed, bringing their synthpop sounds to this already industrial heavy event. Frozen Plasma have in the the past participated in some of the biggest industrial/electro festivals in the world including Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Infest, Neuwerk Festival, and Amphi to name just a few. Their impressive addition to the Resistanz line up neatly rounds off that list. Also added to the Resistanz line up are acts the heavily requested Memmaker and Canadian noiseniks Detroit Diesel. Generating widespread acclaim since the release of their debut album “Terre Humaine” on DWA (worldwide) and Infacted Recordings (EU) for their unrelenting pace and quality fans are eager to witness Detroit Diesels 2012 Resistanz debut. a performance that will also mark the bands first ever European date. Memmaker, who formed in Montreal, canada and are now based in Copenhagen Denmark have a more seasoned touring reputation in Europe, performing as part of 2010′s Infest lineup. Memmaker are set to bring their rare compound of hard trance, electro grooves and industrial beats to the Corporation stage this coming April. Most recently announced of this already stellar line up is Austria’s Nachtmahr. The harsh EBM outfit founded by L’aime Immortelle’s Thomas Rainer is harsh thudding beats, savage vocals and Militaristic attitude all rolled together and tied up with a rigorous discipline and dedication that has seen the band rise through the ranks to become a driving force of the scene today in  just four years. These and more artists are already setting up next years lineup as an event to rival its début. Resistanz is rapidly becoming something immense with big acts, ambition and a following to match.

International EBM icons VNV Nation have unveiled a series of UK tour dates starting this October to follow their August performance at Bradfords EBM festival Infest. The dates are currently listed as an extended live sets with special guests yet to be confirmed.

The tour dates will follow the September release date of the new album Automatic. Preorder details have yet to be announced.

April 2011 Resistanz International Industrial Music Festival sees over 14 bands, International Dj’s, stalls and more descend on the legendary Sheffield venue the Corporation. The immense bill of bands is starting to take shape with Suicide Commando, Covenant, Caustic, C/A/T in their first ever UK performance and XP8 already announced with Dj sets from Thomas Rainer of L’Âme Immortelle and more recently Nachtmahr added to the mix. The event, which runs 2-3 April is already shaping up to be a serious contender to the established UK EBM festival Infest.

Bands and DJ’s are being regularly added to the bill via the facebook page with Gothsicles, Uberbyte,  And One, Eisenfunk, SAM and Dj Hive the most recent announcements which seem to get bigger and better with each passing week.
