Symphonic Metal band Xandria have dropped their latest video ‘Valentine’ this week, in time for the muddled mess of candies and broken hearts that is its name sake. ‘Valentine’ is taken from the bands upcoming album ‘Neverworld’s End’, which is their first release in almost four years following the 2008 ‘Now & Forever – Best of Xandria’ compilation. ‘Neverworld’s End’ sees the band stay true to their original sound; a sound that shot them to fame on their début ‘Kill The Sun’ and its follow up ‘Ravenheart’. The latter of these albums cemented their position in the symphonic metal genre with it’s the ever-popular hit single title track ‘Ravenheart’, though recent tracks, including ‘Valentine’ and the new albums opener ‘A Prophecy of Worlds to Fall’ tip the scales further in favor of metal. Heavier guitars and driving bass find themselves at home alongside the captivating symphonic element, melodies and Manuela Kraller’s refined vocal performance. In the new video and upcoming album, Xandria further finetune the delicate balancing act that is symphonic metal, and at least on this single they’ve certainly got it right.
Xandria – Neverworld’s End is available to pre-order now via Napalm Records before it’s February 28th general release.
