Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced the Europe wide release of Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, now available to download for PC. Recently released on PlayStation Network, the kollection returns to the three original titles that redefined arcade gaming as a blood sport back in the day. Test your might against the gameplay, gore, 2D graphics and renowned finishing moves that still to this day make Mortal Kombat a hardcore classic. This game is close to my heart from experiences playing it at home, in amusement arcades and every attempt ever made to adapt it. ‘Kombat is now a part of the Kollective Konsciousness, inseparable from the movie’s techno theme, thoughts of KMFDM and any use of a grappling hook. In fact I hasten a guess that among the enduring legacies of the Mortal Kombat franchise, the gore and the immortal slogan of Scorpion “GET OVER HERE!” are indelibly etched on the history of computer gaming. Sure, against the likes and remarkably glossy looks of the recently released Soul Calibur V the Klassic ‘Kombat series may look a bit blocky and dated but in this day and age it’s all part of the charm. The Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection is available now for £6.29 via Steam, Gamestop’s Impulse, Direct2Drive, Gametap and others as well as XBLA and PSN.
