Kitsch conspiracy theory inspired sci-fi is set to hit our screens in the shape of the Nazi moon base invasion movie Iron Sky. The film, now being filmed by Finnish company Energia Productions (makers of the parody Star Wreck), follows the tale that the Nazi party were developing flying saucer technology and set up a base on the dark side of the moon to its eventual conclusion in 2018 where the earth is left at the mercy of the new Astro-Nazi saucer menace. The trailer, now available on YouTube, puts this crazy concept in perspective with dazzling special effects and music by totalitarian industrialists Laibach providing the perfect accompaniment. an official statement on the bands website explains that they will be providing material for the soundtrack with Ben Watkins of Juno Reactor invited to score the movie.
This film is still in its early stages, and the trailer itself is just a teaser. The Finnish company are seeking the help of fans for funding using a technique called crowd sourcing relying on small donations from fans and visitors to their website IronSky.net. The outlandish concept, unique soundtrack and high class visuals mean this is a project well worth keeping an eye on. Scroll down for a glimpse at the teaser trailer and concept art.
