For those who like their music from bands that sing in another language then this album is not for you. However if you are someone who is curious about what some of his or her songs are about then read on…

For those unfamiliar with Oomph! Then listen to this album then find all their albums in their native German tongue. To me they’re an amazing band they sound good no matter what language they sing. Their latest album Truth Or Dare was released not only for their English speaking but also for the American market and other countries round the world who like to here songs in English. As I said for ardent fans of everything authentic then some may be disappointed but to be honest with you I’ve yet to find a song I don’t like yet! Oomph! Have collaborated with a few artists on this album with the likes of Apocalyptica, Sharon Den Adel from within Temptation, Marta Jandova of Die Happy and Sonja Kraushofer from L’ame Immortelle. They choose 16 of their most well known tracks. Here I have given you a couple of songs where they really do keep you hooked from start to end.

From the first song Ready Or Not (I’m Coming) Augen Auf to give it, it’s German title, is their take on the games we all played as children, It’s given a slightly more grown up take on the game of hide and seek. The haunting sound of the keyboard draws you in the thumping drum beats starts your head nodding and before you know it your bobbing your head. This song whether in German or English has you hooked, Dero’s singing still sounds good too. Burning Desire features Sonja Kraushofer (L’Âme Immortelle) Dero and Sonja’s voices give emphasis to the music for the passion leaves a person wanting more.

Song of Death (Die Schlinge) featuring Apocalyptica. The haunting sound of the cellos and the gravely voice of Dero it’s almost like listening to the ticking of a clock. Almost like time is running out on life. God is a Popstar seems to be aimed at the manufactured bands that come and go. Using the lords prayer to start with emphasises the fact that it has almost become like religion to most people.

God is a Popstar is another one of their better known songs, this song starts with the lords prayer to put emphasis on how people are worshipping Popstars almost like a religion.

Land ahead has the soft sweet angelic voice of Sharon Den Adel; it’s quite a haunting melody. Dero and Sharon duet well in this song.

Dero’s voice, Flux and Craps take on the Frankie Goes To Hollywood song The Power Of Love Sounds amazing it’s even better than F.G.T.H. probably because of the almost grungier sound of the guitars gives it the Oomph! Factor.

The second to last track on the album Dream Here (with me) better known as Träumst du features Marta Jandova. It’s quite emotive giving the impression of the dreams becoming reality as far as lust and passion go! A slow song follows this, On Course is bringing you back out of an insane rush of emotions contained in the album. It’s almost showing you that even those who feel trapped can find a way forward.

I’ve listened to this album quite a few times now and I’ve still not heard a bad song. So for those who still think that they should not have done it, then this album is definitely not for you but for those who that didn’t know they actually first started out writing and performing in English, then translated their lyrics into German. So maybe after reading this you might want to listen to the album and make up your own mind as to whether it was a mistake. Personally I don’t think they did, if anything it shows that they can diversify their talents and I hope the will eventually come to England to prove that they earned respect for fan base.
