Over the past few months politics have seen the twice annual Whitby Goth Weekend divide into many camps. The good news is that competition breeds growth, meaning these separate camps have to work harder for your money and do so by giving you so much more to choose from. I’ll be honest there is a whole lot more going on this April.
With official events at the spa spreading to involve a Sophie Night as well as a Fetish Ball; The return of Committed to the Metropole and the new 4 night alternative event fittingly named “The Other Side” alone give you a lot to choose from.

This weekend is jam packed with choice, and trying to track down all your options looks set to be a mighty feat itself. That’s not to say people aren’t trying there are a number of sites providing an itinerary of events and as usual, the WGW Almanack will be circulating at the event with details and articles on the event within.
People may not like change as much of the infighting and scene drama has shown but all the best parts of the official event are still there with the Bizarre Bazaar, 2 days of bands at the Spa and recent addition to the event, club night Nostalgia staying as part of the line up.
More than ten years on, its the spirit of the event that draws people back time after time, rather than the ticketed gigs and club-nights, though as this year has shown, attendees are spoiled for choice.
