Bitch Brigade - Pastel Aggressive

Brisbane’s Bitch Brigade’s E.P. Pastel Aggressive is an entertaining entry point to the band, treading typical EP territory with a plethora of remixes. These remixes take the forms of tracks Bubblegum Cyber and Licky The Carnivorous Pony. ‘Licky’ tells the tale of a horse of many faces. One of which just happens to be that of a flesh eating pony. The song is sung with such sincerity you never once question how ludicrous it all is, even as it veers off to tell you about his magical powers and how he runs atop the clouds.
Bitch Brigade has all the sinister sparkles of The Birthday Massacre wrapped up in a pink bow of Aussie attitude.
Bubblegum Cyber is an alternative fashion anthem with strong catchy lyrics like such snippets as “I’ve got a fetish for Pink and cute and PVC ’cause looking normals’ just not for me” which shine through strongly in all of the included mixes with the poisoned something mix being a personal favorite. It’s difficult to tell whether this is a cynical tirade against glitter-goth girlie girls, at one point name checking Hello Kitty and all her friends or rather a rally cry for alternative fashionistas everywhere. Despite this what is certain is that this song is destined to be a dance floor hit.
This EP is a steal, literally with its pay-what-you-like offer available on the band’s Bandcamp page. The EP and their full album Dendrite are available on Crunchpod Records and through the Fixt webstore to name but a few.
