dmp logoOnline promotion Group Dark Mourning Promotions are an example of everything that’s good in the Goth scene at present; Informed, active and awesome. Dark Mourning have currently released 3 free compilations with the most recent being their 16 track “Pulse” album. Dark Mourning is a project with high ambitions and a relatively low budget that has been championing and publicizing acts to high effect with little to no recognition for their work.

Dark mourning promotions is the brain child of Maerlyn, a goth from Huddersfield with the humble goal of supporting the genre.

“me, I’m just a fan trying to support the scene and music i love”. Maerlyn explains that Dark Mourning is “based online to use as many online resources to help support & promote signed/unsigned artists to as many people as possible to try gain them more fans and give support to others working towards similar goals by affiliating with them.”

The project has grown with the compilations standing as milestones in their work, with work always in progress.

“Its grown pretty fast in the past few months mostly I’d hope because people are recommending to friends and others who would be interested, Also I’m doing a lot of advertising to gain all the coverage i can.”

One of the bands DMP represents is the Ladder, an industrial EBM band performing with fellow EBM act Cybercide at the Resolution in Whitby this same Halloween weekend.

“Sometimes i try to headhunt them and see if they wish to join, Most of the time I’m approached by the bands who wish to join up, I have a listen to them and if i hear potential and believe people will really enjoy i take the next step and layout the details on how i can help and what I’d like to see from them in return support, If they like the terms and agree then i set everything up.”

“The Ladder are getting much better as time goes by, The recent addition of Kat to the band has been a good move making them sound better live.”

“The future looks good for Dark Mourning but the shape it will take is uncertain.

Its evolved into much more than i ever anticipated when i first began nearly 2 years ago, What the future holds i cannot say, Only to grow and see how far i can take it, What happens has yet to be seen but i do have a few ideas on my next steps but they remain top secret for now because i don’t know if I’d have the time to set them in motion.”

Dark mourning can be found at its recently renovated web page www.DarkMourning.co.nr as well as holding a strong presence on several social networks.
