Drag me to hell sees the welcome return of Sam Raimi to his horror directing roots in this upcoming feature after such a long time in the spandex clad directing chair of the Spiderman films.
Drag me to hell follows the tale of Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Christine has two choices: give the old woman a break or deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and help herself on the road to promotion? Christine sadly chooses the career option, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home.
In retaliation, the Mrs. Ganush places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Haunted by an evil spirit and misunderstood by her skeptical boyfriend, she seeks the aid of seer Rham Jas (Dileep Rao) to save her from the curse. To try and help Christine return her life to normal, the psychic sets her on a frantic course to reverse the spell. As evil spirits close in, Christine must face the unthinkable; how far will she go to be rid of the curse.
So far so typical of many horror films of late that have used curses as the main plot line. But with Sam Raimi directing it this has all the makings of being a great horror film which is in much need in a time when Hollywood seems to be doing horror by numbers.
Drag me to hell is set for a end of the month release.
