Torture Garden - London Fetish Ball 4/10/08

Being the main event for London’s fetish weekend exploits, and Necromag’s second visit to the world’s most popular fetish club, we feel it appropriate to delve head first into the fantastic world of fetish clubbing that TG has been at the forefront of for years. Amongst the kebab shop stabbings and cockney accents of this nations capital is a secret world that really needs to be seen to believed. A lot of stigma can often be associated with fetish clubs, images of seedy old men masturbating in corners and gimps being led around by their masters while people are being flogged may come to mind. Well, yes, this does happen, i mean what kind of fetish club doesn’t have this? But TG has a very strong sophistication where fantasy and reality come together in a controlled space where everyone can explore whatever kinky fantasies they may carry, or simply take a back seat to watch others explore theirs. Or, if you prefer, club your tits off. Never is it any more dangerous than you want it to be, and never are you expected to do anything you don’t want to.

This event, at club Mass, was a lot smaller than the last one Necromag had the honour of being at, and therefore was ever so slightly more tamed down than the larger previous club, SeOne. However, a fully equipped dungeon room, couple’s playroom as well as several installation parts with two dance rooms were available for use. As for the clients? The usual mix of young beautiful people and older generation misfits taking part in a variety of kinky activities. A lovely couple early on in the dungeon were kind enough to let us watch them engage in trampling, an activity which looked more painful than you could imagine, however the smile on the guys face afterward (he was being trampled upon) cast any doubt that he was having anything less than an amazing time. Walking into the couples room without my other half (she was checking out the smoking area) may have been a bad choice as a very attractive lady started to stroke my collegue’s thigh during mid conversation, and the whisper of “Lets go, it’s a dude” was more than enough for us to bolster out. The playroom did pick up speed later on, and my only complaint is that the room was far too small for a crowd this large, and while i wont delve into what yours truly got upto in there, it’s safe to say that having an audience for normally private activities is nothing less than freaking sweet!

Other highlights were the AMF Korset design company’s little fashion roadshow, showing off some truly unique designs to a truly unique crowd. I saw my first fetish midget, how she got clothes made for her size i will never know! A brilliant installation piece where a beautiful naked lady was having Polaroids stapled to her body was pretty interesting, and, for me, the definition of fetish was seeing a beautiful girl being flogged naked on an A frame by a domme, literally only minutes after seeing the same girl have sex with a random guy on the same couch i was sat on upstairs. Hardcore woman. Hardcore. And this was just scratching the surface.

But all these words are nonsense without seeing it with your own eyes. It’s such a shame that the UK Fetish scene hardly extends from outside London, aside from a choice few places we have yet to explore (next month NecroReaders…..) because everyone should have something like this nearby.

For me, the absolute highlight was watching people leave the club at 6am in their everyday attire. Bankers, teachers, lawyers, students, pilots, who knows? Fetish does not tie into a particular scene, although it does attract a lot of goths and people with alternative lifestyles, it really is for everyone. Chances are if you’re reading this, you would love it.
