A slightly late entry into the venue after a tour of the delights of an industrial town without industrial waste takes us somewhere in the midst of Sieben’s performance. A musician who gets as much as he can from his single instrument, the violin. Using an effects box of some kind he records several loops of plucking, of playing of chin rubs and warbling into the violins own microphone to gradually build the soundscapes that towards the end of his set were so effective. Though alas, this was a slight problem live. Each song took several minutes to solidify and live, its like sitting through the sound check to get two bars of the song. Sieben does make good music though. his implosive crooning as he struggles to manage every piece of equipment at his disposal sees him contort and twitch his way to the microphone, bow wedged where ever there is room for it, with the occasional Morrissey style flourish of it, twirling on his fingertips.

With the violin element already set in stone, the music looks set to have a consistent town this evening. The dark emotive plucking of the violin being the song Emilie has so often played. That is when its not awash somewhere in the arrangements of keyboards and the dedicated strummings of Lady Joo Hee. As Emilies performance begins we’re first greeted by the appearance of Vecona and gradually more of her fellow bloody crumpets as Emilie herself dances in silhouette to the right of the stage. A very visual act in the performances of Emilie herself with her emotive gestures accompanying a note perfect vocal performance, albeit over a mostly pre-recorded backing track.
Before this performance I always assumed the Bloody Crumpets were people who simply took part in some sort of podium dancing to the edge of the stage and were mainly superfluous to the actual performance, though I was proved quite wrong, seeing the Ladies lunge at Emilie, “Teabag” the crowd and perform their own simultaneous act along the music of Emilie, even at times adding backing vocals.

Some of the high points of the performance included her numerous encores. A solo performance of Unlaced on her electric violin, and a unique performance of the song “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”.

A late review, heres hoping its not to abrupt. In short It was amazing.
