Deathboy: April 5th 2008 @ The Georgian Theatre

From opening number machine gun Deathboy are confusingly different from their recorded music, with a distinctly rockier sound as a three piece than the very solid blended industrial sound of their existing tracks.
I suppose it is a hard sound to translate but further into the set Deathboy sound becomes more recognizable with the able backing of a live drummer and the inclusion of samples and synth seeping in.
A third into the set we’re treated to a new track with a drum and bass feel. This new song is as close to Deathboy’s sound as anything in the set to which Mr Deathboy himself remarks “Did you get what you paid for?”.
A powerful track, full of momentum in which you realize nothing is lost on the other tracks as the guitar is still the driving force of Deathboy live, along with the superb drumsmanship of course. From here on they progress to the full on nigh EBM-ness of track Change where those who have them get their glow-stick waving on. but whats this kids? is it the old school EBM of acts like Nitzer Ebb? I do believe so! Nice.
From there on out the quality and bass both escalate till the closer and subsequent encore.
Heres hoping the next Decadence event has the same caliber of industrial EBM bands and their ilk.
