Rhombus at the Falchion, April 4th

Posted on: April 10, 2008 by: Girrable

Rhombus are a perfect opening to the latest season of music at the Falchion, suited strongly to the goth tinged night persecution playing host to the quartet. The old school goth sounds of Rhombus are akin to early sisters of mercy songs not just in the wall of sound created by their powerful bass riffs and wailing lead guitar but the crooning of lead singer Edward Grassby, that easily could have burst from the lips of Eldritch himself. The good old two step beats of yore keep things at a comfortable volume blasting out of a drum machine in the corner of the cosy dance floor of the Falchion’s function room. Its hard to imagine there being space to fit a kit behind the lively hops of female vocalist Mya that brings things to an amazing high point with her soaring cries and harmonies.

It was both surprising and amazing that a band of Rhombus’s caliber were the first of the latest bill of gigs and received the welcome they did.
Looking forward to more at the Falchion soon.
