Album review “Watershed” by Opeth
The ninth album by Swedish Prog-faced hairy metallers Opeth was described as “Avant-garde” by frontman Michael Akerfeldt. He couldn’t be more correct. The biggest question is how does a band top an album which pretty much everyone agreed was perfect? 2005’s “Ghost Reveries” was the perfect combination of beauty and brutality, so beautality or brutiful [...]

Deathboy: April 5th 2008 @ The Georgian Theatre
From opening number machine gun Deathboy are confusingly different from their recorded music, with a distinctly rockier sound as a three piece than the very solid blended industrial sound of their existing tracks.
I suppose it is a hard sound to translate but further into the set Deathboy sound becomes more recognizable with the able backing [...]
A few items of interest…..
Keeping one’s peepers on the internet has provided some new cool information Necromag wishes to share with it’s lovely readers.
Firstly, Maynard James Keenan’s side-project Puscifer has released a video for it’s second single “DoZo.” The track contains input from ambient supremo Lustmord, and can be viewed here.

WM3
It is an all too common occurance that people who dress different, look different and act different to the ways prescribed from birth by society’s “norms” are treated with contempt, abuse and insult. How about put on Death Row? For the last almost two decades three men, youthes at the time, have been incarcerated in [...]
Lust Murder.
Necromag likes to share it’s personal musical quirks and nuances with you on a regular basis, and this is a mini profile of dark ambient music pioneer Lustmord. If you’re a Tool fan you will have probably heard Lustmord on their last CD “10,000 Days”, providing the sound effects of rain and thunder on the [...]
Rhombus at the Falchion, April 4th
Rhombus are a perfect opening to the latest season of music at the Falchion, suited strongly to the goth tinged night persecution playing host to the quartet. The old school goth sounds of Rhombus are akin to early sisters of mercy songs not just in the wall of sound created by their powerful bass riffs [...]

Necromag, like the omnipresent godlike internet deity it is, can be in two places at once over the weekend. About 150 miles away from the burlesque antics of the flaming Ace, we were also present, and also quite drunk, at Nottingham’s Rock City for Jon Crosby and his band of merry men. Before frequenting another [...]
