This weekend has all been about resurgence. The return of The Flaming Ace this Friday gone has solidified its reputation for providing amazing entertainment. Any apprehensions and prejudices about a change of venue were quickly quelled the moment you stepped through the door and saw that the Aces was as popular as it ever was.
The weekend also saw the return of frantic, offensive, mac centric podcast, Spiderfarm Radio. I and the Ox King lent ourselves to the proceedings and I myself will likely again having been part of the original show lineup. Now as much as this is a plug for the show itself I intend to talk more about what its return, along side the Aces signifies.
Rock my friends. far more than a genre of music if you do it right. The, recently crumbling goth and metal scene seems now to be finding its feet again, with Decadence opening the door for the town to a reputation as a hot spot on the Gothic music tour circuit as well as the sheer number of bands expected in the near future at The Falchion. the growth of intensive “audience participation” such as this very podcast helps expand peoples sources and opportunities for entertainment. and the extra nights? well, Competition encourages people, and businesses to excel.
Now, back to our little venture; Spiderfarm radio previously took the form of a video podcast, based entirely in a single room, much the same as it did when it was first recorded as an audio podcast. with its inclusion on iTunes podcast database hopes are this season will reach a larger audience than ever before. This kind of promotion is not unique, even in the north, with publishers of magazines like TWF hosting their own podcasts. What has made Spiderfarm unique, however, is its sheer irreverence and irrelevance. The show runs at an uneven pace and can be considered quite offensive but there is comedy in its irony and ineptness. Since episode one I have striven to bring some semblance of order to the show and in return it just takes an extra two hours to record.
I recommend that if you are not easily offended and can appreciate and understand sarcasm that you at least listen to a few minutes of the show. if you hate it then its all fine. I’ll probably feature another cast soon. Infact, sign up via the comments function and feel free to suggest content or just give your opinions. Both sites are services. we want to entertain and as the public you can make a change just by giving us your say so.
Signing off.
